This month I opened the doors of my house and especially to the room of my son Mason, who wasn’t born at that time yet. Together with fashion photographer Martijn Senders I shot these pictures which reflect my taste and style. Take a look at a brand new Fashion meets Kids Interior styled by Sanne van Gestel and get inspired by this jungle of joy.
One of the statement colors this season is red. I bought these Ajax shoes for the little one as a present for his dad. So they can watch the football games together. On this picture I’m sitting in the living room. In our interior we both think it’s really important to have a sense of humor in it. The couch for example is really playfull but yet graphic. The couch is the Tufty Time from the brand B&B Italia. I just love the classic designer pieces.
Welcome to the jungle. Last december we went to London were we celebrated New Years Eve. During that time we visited the store House of Hackney, were I completely fell in love with the beautiful prints they have. After a month I found out I was pregnant and I couldn’t wait to decorate the room. I started to make a moodboard and really wanted to have wallpaper in the room, to make it more playfull. The wallpaper is from House of Hackney. The yellow bag with bow is from Christian Louboutin, I am completely obsessed with the brand Louboutin. The right bag is from Fendi, next to the Dolce & Gabbana sneakers. For Mason Adidas sneakers and an adorable baby body from Maison Labiche, bought at The archive store, my favorite store in Amsterdam.
The whole room has one color, a dark blue color. I bought fabric which perfectly suits the wallpaper and from that color they made the paint color. So the walls, the furniture and all the fabrics in the room, like the curtains, canopy and bedspread are in dark blue. This changing table is a cabinet from Ikea, spraypainted in dark blue with golden monkey handles from Doing goods. The little suit is from Stella McCartney Kids. On the changing table you find swaddles with golden prints from Aden + Anais, a blanket from Numero 74 and a giraffe rattle from Cam Cam Copenhagen. I have chosen for some golden details in the room, it makes the room chic.
This picture was shot one week before my son Mason was born. The whole room is one fun jungle. I travelled around the country to find the most beautiful items which suited the babyroom. This Giraffe is from Melissa & Doug. Both the candle and little golden box are from Sissy Boy.
During my pregnancy I called the little one monkey because he was so busy. So when I was making the light plan I wanted to add a night lamp and this is the result. The lamp is from Seletti. And some crazy sparkled heels on it from Louboutin.
Because I was already in my blue fase, I thought the hallway could also have another colour instead of white. I chose here for a greyish blue color. Can you see my high heels from Valentino suit the wall? The lightbox is from bxxlght. I’m crazy about Paris and in our interior you’ll find a lot of French brands. So this lightbox is perfect for our interior.
Another shop were I bought a lot is Zara Home. They have the best blankets and bathtowels. The moses crib is one of the things I really wanted and you’ll find it in our living room. The high heels are from Christian Louboutin and the jacket is from Reiss. I love to dress the baby as a little adult, look at the trenchcoat from River Island which matches the little shoes from Zara, so cute. That reminds me; I desperately need to buy a trenchcoat too!
This is the kitchen, really minimalistic and all black and white. Do you see the plates on the wall? I have a huge obsession with Fornasetti. Please check it on the internet, it’s amazing. You have candles, plates, vases and wallpaper of it. And it adds a little bit of humor to your interior. Not on the picture but of course in this space you find the Stokke Tripp Trapp chair. I just love this chair. Mason is only 5 weeks old but every night he sits with us at the table in his new born set on the Tripp Trapp chair. Must have for every parent.
Now you’ve seen the room of our baby Mason, and a little bit of our house. And although Mason is still sleeping in his beautifull crib in our bedroom, I am so happy with his room. I hope you loved seeing the room, I hope I inspired you and you will take the extra step to make the babyroom as you want it! Don’t be scared and go a little bit further than normal. Style in your own way.
