Prêt à Pregnant talks with.. Molly Sims
We love Molly Sims for so many reasons - her humble, easy-going outlook on life (see below), her beauty, her awesome and very useful website, and the list goes on. When she was pregnant, we swooned over her chic maternity style, and now that Molly is a new mom to adorable son Brooks - we had to know her secrets for keeping it all together. Without further adieu, take a look at the more personal side of the beautiful Molly Sims.
Q: First and foremost - congratulations on your beautiful baby boy Brooks! Motherhood changes everything - what you do find most rewarding?
A: Thank you so much! The most rewarding thing for me is that I get to watch him grow and change everyday. Seeing life through Brooks' eyes is just incredible.
Q: Being pregnant is one of the most beautiful and fleeting times in a woman's life - how did you savor the experience?
A: Just know, at the end of nine months, you're going into war with yourself - mostly from from sleep deprivation! So get off your feet, kick them up, and order a lot of pillows for your bed! (Put them in every part of the bed possible)...and just ENJOY IT!
Q: We LOVE perusing your site (mollysims.com) - it's full of the best beauty tips, recipes (hello southern spice tea), and inspiration - what gets your creativity going to be able to produce great content?
A: There is so much at your fingertips nowadays! I could lose a whole day just browsing my favorite websites and being inspired by the creativity of others. I also love sharing the tips and tricks I've learned throughout my career and being a new mom!
Q: What are your style must-haves, items that you can always rely on to make you look and feel beautiful?
A: My fashion must-haves in my closet are: a boyfriend blazer, a great tank, black skinny jeans, a jean shirt, ballet flats, Isable looking boots , a cross shoulder bag and a great scarf!
Q: What is something you strive to teach Brooks everyday, especially as he grows older?
A: To be kind. And sweet!
Q: Being a working mom is no easy task - how do you balance a career, family, and time for yourself?
A: My motto: work hard, play hard! My days are also very scheduled. For example: when he naps, I'll work out. I try to make the very most of my time. But is is definitely scheduled...
Q: You constantly wow us with your gorgeousness and radiance - aside from what you share online, are there any beauty/health tips that you might impart on us, mere mortals?
A: Take care of yourself.. and don't forget about YOU! To all the women out there who are getting into motherhood - get out of those sweatpants!! Get dressed up, even if you have no where to go! Set some goals for yourself. You can reach them if you put the effort into it.
Q: From baby carriers to eco-friendly bottles, there are so many gizmos and gadgets out there that make moms’ lives a bit easer – have you found any that you particularly love?
A: I love Earth Mama Angel Baby! I also can't live without: glass bottles. Seventh generation baby wipes. Zoli straw sippy cups. EO hand sanitizer; lavender scent.I use ziplock bags to separate things in his diaper bag to help keep me organized.
And I use pee-pee pads when I need to change Brooks in a public restroom. (The kind you would buy for your pet to potty train them.) Just place it on the changing table, and when you are done, just throw it away!
Q: What's currently on your reading list? Favorite book(s) of all time?
A: There are so many! Off the top of my head some of my all time faves are: Rules of Cevility (Amor Towles), Shadow of the Wind (Carlos Ruiz Zafon), The Poison Wood Bible (Barbara Kingsolver), The Bluest Eye (Toni Morrison) and & The Great Gatsby.
